Competitions
Club Competitions
Each year there are three competition evenings for which members can submit PRINTS (Monochrome or Colour), and three for PROJECTED DIGITAL IMAGES (PDIs). These are placed before an invited judge who will give a critique on all the entries and award marks out of 20. The top two scores for each entrant in each competition will count towards the overall end of season winner in each medium. Full details, rules and how to submit your entries can be found here.
Bill Dunn - Memorial Trophy
All fully paid up members of Peterborough PS, Deepings CC, Wisbech CC, March CC, Bedford CC, Rushden & Dist PS, Fenland CC & Perkins PC are eligible to enter this stand alone competition. An entrant may enter up to 3 PDIs and/or 3 prints. These must be current work which has not been used previously in this competition and can be of any subject. The theme of the competition is “Creative Photography”. Many Photographers have a great sense of creativity and want to break away from the rules and constraints of traditional photographs. Full details, rules and how to submit your entries can be found here.
Annual Exhibition
Each year the Society holds its Annual Exhibition of Prints and Projected Images at the St. Johns Church, Cathedral Square, Peterborough. The exhibition consists of mounted prints and digitally projected images. A number of competitions are integral to the exhibition and trophies and awards apply to each category. Full details, rules and how to submit your entries can be found here.
Brotherhoods Cup Competition
This is a inter club competition for clubs within an approximate 40 mile radius of PPS. Each club may enter 8 PDIs, the images are marked out of 20 and the club with the highest aggrefate score wins the Brothehood Cup for the following year. An award is also given for the best image in the opinion of the evening's judge. It is a chance to see work of a high standard from members of other clubs. The rules can be found here.
Four Way Battle
This is an annual event between PPS, Deepings CC, Wisbech CC and March CC and a long standing arrangement. This is another chance to see work of a high standard from a variety of clubs and is another inter club competition. It is hosted by each club in turn.
North & East Midlands Photographic Federation
The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) is an organisation that coordinates specific activities for photographic clubs in England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. It does this through 15 geographical regions known as Federations. PPS is affiliated to the PAGB through the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (NEMPF).
PPS enters PDI & PRINT Championships in the hope that we can qualify to represent the Federation at the National Championships organized by the PAGB later in the year. Details will be announced on club nights throughout the season - but full information can be found on the NEMPF Web Site.
Additional Information
Please note that all of the inter club competitions need images from individual members which are coordinated for selection by the various competition secretaries. Please be ready and willing to offer your work for these events.
